A

(F)ace: is one side of the face drooping? Is it numb? Ask the person to smile. Is the smile uneven?
(A)rms: Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Check to see if one arm is drifting downwards.
(S)peech: Is the persons speech slurred? Is the person unable to speak? Can the person be understood? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence and see if it is repeated correctly?
(T)ime: Is of the upmost importance when responding to a stroke. If the person shows any symptoms above, report to the nurse immediately.

What is Rheumatoid Arthritis?

A

A chronic inflammatory disorder affecting many joints, including those in the hands and feet.
In rheumatoid arthritis, the body’s immune system attacks its own tissue, including joints. In severe cases, it attacks internal organs.

Usually affects the smaller joints first, then progresses to larger ones.
