Formal links

Contextual text
Referring to the outside world, to knowledge not include in the communicative product itself.
Types of Formal links
- Substitution
- Ellipses
- Reference
- Conjunctions
- Lexical Cohesion: Reitaration and Collocation
Substitution
- To avoid repetition.
Ellipses
- it is the omission of words
- it is assumed that the meaning is understood from the context.
Reference
Words that have no meaning on their own.
Conjuction
Specifies a relationship between clauses or sentences;

- To conclude
- To sequence
- To indicate causality
Collocation
The way certain words always occur together.
