Q

Three of Swords

A

A moment when the heart might feel pierced by something, and our mind’s response to that is to root into action. Who can we blame? What action can we take? How can we get closure? Working with this card helps us to witness those attempts from the mind to keep us from discomfort, and shift our attention to the center of the wound, acknowledging the pain, upset, or heartbreak we feel.

Q

Five of Swords

A

How do we tend to ourselves in moments when we feel that we’ve made a mistake, whether real or imagined? Five of Swords is here to support us through that kind of experience. Whether we take reparative action and apologize, or halt the process of unfairly blaming ourselves, this card can help us in moments when we feel like we’ve messed up.

Q

Six of Swords

A

Rather than a card of travel, Six of Swords invites us to ask for help, support, and witnessing when we most need it. There are moments in life when we might not have the best perspective on something, or when we need someone to help to steer the ship of our lives. With Six of Swords, we are calling upon the caretaker within us to hold our inner child through those moments, and brush off potential tendencies of isolation by widening our circle of care

Q

Seven of Swords

A

This card is an invitation to sense into whether we are being fully present with what wants and needs our attention. Are we willing to truly be with the five symbolic swords that we’re holding in our arms, or will we continue to turn back toward the two other swords that we have no room for at this moment in our lives? With this card, we want to tend to those feelings of not-enoughness, and gently turn toward what’s already here, rather than what we’re trying to make room for

Q

Eight of Swords

A

We might feel trapped and caught in a situation, but we’re not as stuck as it seems. This card calls us into a kind of transformative process, one in which we realize that our mind’s perception of a situation (while utterly valid) might not be totally based in truth. Eight of Swords helps us to see the unlocked, open windows in situations where we might only be focused on knocking down a locked and bolted door. There is another option for movement and choice, even if it’s not immediately clear to us

Nine of Swords

A

An invitation to gently and courageously look at our fear- based, “what if” thoughts from the perspective of the rooted caretaker that lives within us.

Q

Ten of Swords

A

An old way of thinking about something is dead; we cannot go any further with it. We must take a leap into something new, and try to consider it from a different perspective. A true rebirth, and a shift in how we relate to our thinking
