Q

T-cell immunity

A

CD4+ T-cells

  • helper t-cells
  • help phagocytes kill engulfed pathogens
  • help B-cells make antibodies
  • help recruit inflammatory cells
  • regulate the immune response (t-regulatory cells)

CD8+ T-cells

  • cytotoxic t-cells
  • kill pathogen-infected (usually viral infected) host cells

Q

T-cell receptors

A

T-cell receptors:

  • variable region
  • constant region
  • stay on T-cells surface membrane

Each T-cell has a unique TCR that will only bind a specific antigen in the context of being presented on an MHC molecule
