Form W-3: Transmittal of Wage and Tax Statements

A

W-3 is submitted with Forms W-2 to the SS Administration. Reports the total SS Wages; total Medicare Wages; total SS Tax withheld; total Medicare Tax withheld; total Wages, Tips, and other compensation; total Federal Income Tax withheld; and other information.
Due by the last day of February following the end of the calendar year.

A

Provided to employees by January 31 for the previous calendar year’s earnings. Contains information about Earnings and Tax Withholdings for the year. Information comes from employee’s earnings record.

Form 941: Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return

A

Form 941 must be filed by all employers subject to Federal Income Tax, Social Security Tax, or Medicare Tax. Provides information about employee earnings, the tax liability for each month in the quarter, and the deposits made.
Due date is the last day of the month following the end of each quarter. If taxes were deposited when due, then date is extended by 10 days.
(Ex: March 31, June 30, September 30, December 31)
