Pacifism definition
that all war and violence cannot be justified under any circumstance
Christian views on pacifism
may refuse to take part in war and join peace rallies, ‘you shall not kill’, Jesus shows peace should be achieved through pacifism, may not accept pacifism and sometimes fighting is the only way to achieve peace
History on pacifism
Jesus could be seen as a pacifist, conscientious objectors refused to fight in WW2, Martin Luther King Jr was a pacifist who refused violence in his fights against injustice
Passive resistant definition
non-violent opposition to authority, especially a refusal to cooperate with legal requirements to fight
Quakers views of pacifism
God is in everyone so you should not harm them, should fight against injustice peacefully, some Quakers refused to defend themselves when attacked
History of pacifism in Islam
when muhammad was forced to leave Makkah violence was used so pacifism was not a part of Islam, violence is not completely rejected by Islam but peace is promoted
Passive resistance in Islam
Qur’an and Hadith strive for justice and to resist oppression, resist cruelty and injustice, importance of peace and reconciliation using non-violence, Islam means peace, fighting can be used to bring peace, not a pacifist religion
