1
Q

Q

What does a conservative plate boundary do ?

A

The two plates slide past each other in opposite directions . The friction is eventually overcome and the shockwave creates a massive earthquake.

Q

3 reasons Why people live near a volcano ( Economic ,Social and environmental )

A
  1. You could charge tourists to visit the volcano ( Economic)
  2. The soil is really rich with minerals because of the ash ( environmental)
  3. The geothermal energy could be used to heat your house ( social )

Q

What does a collision plate boundary do ?

A

The two plates collide. Neither can sink so the land buckles creating fold mountains

Q

What does a constructive plate boundary cause ?

A

The plates are moving upart . When this happens the magma from the mantle rises up a new crust. Rising magma can also create shield volcanoes

Q

What are the Features of a composite volcano ?

A

. The lava is very thick and moves slowly
. Narrow base and steep sides
. Much more violent eruption

17
Q

What are the features of a shield volcano ?

A
. They are only made up of lava
. Base is very wide and steeps gently
. Thin runny lava which moves quickly and spreads quickly
. Formed at constructive plate boundary
. Very gentle eruption
