tell me how you would check that the breaks are working before starting a journey.
breaks should be tested as you first set off. breaks should not feel spongy or slack. the vehicle shouldn’t pull to one side.
tell me where you’d find the information for recommended tyre pressure for this car and how tyre pressures should be checked.
in the manufactures guide book. all the types, including the spare tyre should be checked using a reliable pressure gauge when cold. remember to refit the valve caps after checking.
tell me how you’d make sure that the head restraint is correctly adjusted so that it provides the best protection in the event of a crash.
the rigid part of the head restraint should be adjusted to be at least as high as the top of the ears or the eyes and should be as close to the back of the head as comfortable.
tell me how you would check that the tyres have sufficient tread depth and that their general condition is safe for use on the road.
the types should have no cuts or bulges. they should have a 1.6mm tread dept around the entire circumference in the centre 3/4 of the tyre.

turn on the ignition and operate the switch. get out of the car and walk round to see if the lights are on.
