What is conduction?
A
Direct contact with hot or cold objects permits heat exchange over the temperature gradient.

A
Your body will exchange heat with distant objects of different temperatures via radiation.

A
Movement of air in you environment will aid the exchange of heat between your body and the moving air.

What happens during Activation of Sympathetic centres?
A
- Skin vessels constrict – due to norepinephrine
- Metabolic rate increases – medullary epinephrine (Thermogenesis (brown fat oxidation))
- Piloerection
- Shivering – hypothalamus shivering centre

Compensatory behavioural responces and voluntary physical activities

What happens during Inhibition of adrenergic Sympathetic activity
A
- Skin vessels dilate
- Metabolic rate decreases
- Cholinergic sympathetic fibres release acetylcholine this innervates sweat glands. ~600 Cal / liter of sweat
