Terminal Velocity Flashcards
What is terminal velocity
the maximum velocity that an object can attain when it is falling through a fluid, such as air or water. Once an object reaches terminal velocity, the force of friction from the fluid is equal to the force of gravity, and the object will fall at a constant velocity.
Things that affect air restistanve and why
Velocity - the faster there moving the more particles they will collide with slowing them down .
Surface area - higher the surface area the larger the area over which collisions can take place
What happens as u accelerate downwards in midair
Acceleration will fall
What happens to a velocity time graph as time goes on
Gets less steep as the rate of acceleration decreases
How to find distance traveled in a velocity time graph
Area under a velocity time graph is the distance travelled
