Object given the name of inventor
Eg. Biro
Affixiation
When a prefix or a suffix is added it changes the meaning of the word
Eg. Prenatal
Initialism
A set of letters pronounced together
Eg. NHS / BBC
Propernames
When brand name of product means the same as the product
Eg. Sellotape/ McDonald’s
Shortening
When a bit is removed from a word
Eg. Hippo
Prefix
Before the word
Eg. Pre/post/un
Suffix
After the word
Eg. ing/ ed/ able
