Sacco Vanzetti Case

A

The case involving two men Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti. Both men were Italian anarchists who were convicted of murdering two men during an armed robbery of a shoe factory in Massachusetts during 1920. This case drew worldwide attention and many people demanded a retrial. Massachusetts together Alvan Fuller appointed a three man team to investigate, after much time spent they upheld the verdict and both men were executed in the electric chair on August 23 1927

A famous American legal case in 1925. A highschool teacher was accused of violating the Butler Act, prohibiting the teaching of evolution in any state public school. The idea that evolution was not inconsistent with religion overturned the case

Bonus marchers

A

A group of 43,000 people, consisting of World War 1 veterans and their families who marched DC to demand cash-payment for their service certificates. A period of time where dust storms swept the country mainly affecting the Great Plains. With the expansion of Farmland a lot of topsoil was made loose and was dried out by the drought in the 1930s. The wind then blew the dirt into massive dirt storms which devastated the MidWest of America

A

During September 1939 world war 2 broke out in Europe. The allied powers needed help but America didn’t want to get too involved in the war. The lend lease act was implemented to provide American aid to allies in Europe. The US ended up supplying 50 billion dollars worth of aid which equates to around 650 billion dollars in modern day money.

Four freedoms

A

The four freedoms were goals introduced by FDR that he believed were necessary everywhere in the world. These freedoms consisted of the freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. This speech was delivered 11 months before the United States declared war on japan. This speech could debatably support the promotion and spread of democracy.

A

The halts conference was a meeting between the head of the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union. FDR, Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin all met at the Crimea to discuss the re establishment of war-destroyed Europe.
