psoas major origin

-transvere process of lumbar vertebrae
-sides of bodies of T12-S1 vertebrae and intervening IV discs

1

psoas major insertion

by strong tendon to lessor trochanter of femur

2

psoas major innervation

lumbar plexus via anterior branches of nerves L2-L4

3

psoas major action

-acting inferiorly with iliacus, flexes thigh
-acting superiorly , flexes vertebral column latterally to balance trunk
-when sitting, act inferiorly with iliacus to flex trunk

4

iliacus origin

-superior 2/3 of iliac fossa
-ala of sacrum
-anterior sarco-iliac ligaments

5

liacus insertion

-lesser trochnter of femur and shaft inferior to it
-psoas major tendon

6

iliacus innervation

femoral nerve (L2-L4)

7

iliacus action

-flexes thigh and stabilizes hip joint
-acts with psoas major

8

quadratus lumborum origin

medial half of inferior border off 12th rib and tips of lumbar TP

9

quadratus lumborum insertion

-iliolumbar ligament
-internal lip of iliac crest

10

quadratus lumborum innervation

anterior branches of T12 and L1-L4

11

quadratus lumborum action

-extends and laterally flexes vertebral column
-fixes 12th rib during inspiration
