TEST II Flashcards

SECTION 4

1
Q

Outline all plasma procoagulats (factors) along with their customary names

A
  1. Factor I (Fibrinogen)
    it is activated by thrombin.
involved in extrinsic and intrinsic pathways. main component of blood clots
  2. Factor II (Prothrombin)
    activated by thrombin.
It is responsible for converting fibrinogen to fibrin.
  3. Factor III. (Tissue Thromboplastin).
initiates extrinsic pathway of coagulation when tissue injury occurs.
  4. Factor VII (Proconvertin) plays a role in activating factor X in the extrinsic pathway.
  5. Factor IX (Chrismas factor)
    Essential for intrinsic pathway
  6. Factor X (Stuart factor)
Activated by factors IXa and VIIa, a key convergence point in both pathways
  7. Factor XIII (Fibrin Stabilizing Factor): Stabilizes the fibrin clot by cross-linking fibrin molecules
  8. Factor V (Labile Factor): Acts as a cofactor for factor Xa, enhancing its activity.
  9. von Willebrand Factor (vWF): Mediates platelet adhesion and aggregation at the site of injury.
  10. Plasma Kallikrein: Contributes to the intrinsic pathway by cleaving HMWK
  11. Fletcher Factor (Factor XI): Activates factor IX in the intrinsic pathway
