SECTION 4

Q
Outline all plasma procoagulats (factors) along with their customary names
A
- Factor I (Fibrinogen)
it is activated by thrombin.
involved in extrinsic and intrinsic pathways. main component of blood clots - Factor II (Prothrombin)
activated by thrombin.
It is responsible for converting fibrinogen to fibrin. - Factor III. (Tissue Thromboplastin).
initiates extrinsic pathway of coagulation when tissue injury occurs. - Factor VII (Proconvertin) plays a role in activating factor X in the extrinsic pathway.
- Factor IX (Chrismas factor)
Essential for intrinsic pathway - Factor X (Stuart factor)
Activated by factors IXa and VIIa, a key convergence point in both pathways - Factor XIII (Fibrin Stabilizing Factor): Stabilizes the fibrin clot by cross-linking fibrin molecules
- Factor V (Labile Factor): Acts as a cofactor for factor Xa, enhancing its activity.
- von Willebrand Factor (vWF): Mediates platelet adhesion and aggregation at the site of injury.
- Plasma Kallikrein: Contributes to the intrinsic pathway by cleaving HMWK
- Fletcher Factor (Factor XI): Activates factor IX in the intrinsic pathway
