- negative: no increased hemolysis

- positive: bubbles

- negative: still green

- mannitol= only gram+ species grow

- positive: red
- negative: yellow

Nitrate reduction

- tests for reduction of nitrogen and gas production
- add 5 drops of A &B reagent. If no red after 5 min add reagent C
- positive: red for nitrate -> nitrite
- negative: no change
