The purpouse of the cpu is to…
process data and instructions by repeating the fe cycle
what does the control unit do?
sends control signals to the direct operation of the cpu.control signals and timing signals are sent to the alu and the ram , it also decodes instructions as part of the fe cycle

it is used to temporarily store date that is frequently used it is split into different levels. It is slower to access than registers ut much faster than the ram
What is the von neumann architecture?
it is named after jon vann neumann who developed the concept of a stored program computer in 1940’s.Before being able to store programs in memory instructions had to be manually put by a human
A computer with NVA …
stores both program instruction and data in the same memory-RAM
Data is transferred between components …
on pathways called buses
