  2. Develop a plan/strategy for conducting the investigation
  3. Collect and record data
  4. Present the data
  5. Analyse and interpret data
  6. Present a summary of the findings and an evaluation

A hypothesis should be:

A
  • A suitable scale
  • Readily researched - (existing secondary data)
  • Clearly defined - terms should be carefully selected to avoid ambiguity.
  • A clear geographical nature
  • Based upon wider geographical theories (such as Burgess)
  • A clear aim - clear purpose for the research which allows for a clear outcome and conclusion to be made

A
  • Simple - a single hypothesis is manageable
  • Measurable - can it be measured?
  • Achievable - make sure it can be done in time with the resources available
  • Realistic - can it be done?
  • Timed - how long will it take?
