Q

What is the function of the scrotum in relation to the testes?

A

It helps in maintaining a low temperature of the testes. approximately 2-2.5C lower than the nomal internal body temperature, necessary for spermatogenesis.

Q

What structures are found within each testicular lobule, and what is their function?

A

Each testicular lobule contains one to three highly coiled seminiferous tubules in whcih sperms are produced. These tubules are lined with male germ cells (spermatogonia) and Sertoli cells provide nutirion to the germ cell.

Q

What is the function of Leydig cells, and where are they located?

Q

Name the male sex accessory ducts and describe their pathway.

A

The male sex accessory ducts include the rete testis, vasa efferentia, epididymis, vas deferens, and ejaculatory duct. The seminiferous tubules of the testis open into the vasa efferentia through the rete testis. The vasa efferentia leave the testis and open into the epididymis, which leads to the vas deferens. The vas deferens ascends to the abdomen, loops over the urinary bladder, and eventually opens into the urethra as the ejaculatory duct.

Q

What is the function of the utethra in the male reproductive system?

A

The urethra originates from the urinary bladder and extends through the penis to its external opening called the urethral meatus. It serves as a passage for both urine and semen.

Q

What is the composition of seminal plasma, and which glands produce it?

A

Seminal plasma is rich in fructose, calcium, and certain enzymes. It is produced by the paired seminal vesicles, the prostate, and the paired bulbourethral glands.

Q

What is penis, and what is its role in the male reproductive system?

Q

What is the function of the glans penis?

A

The glans penis is the enlarged end of the penis, and its function is to facilitate stimulation during sexual activity and to aid in the release of semen during ejaculation.

17
Q

What is the anatomical structure covering the glans penis?

A

The glans penis is covered by a loose fold of skin called the foreskin.

18
Q

How does the penis contribute to insemination?

A

The erect penis allows for penetration into the female reproductive tract during sexual intercouse, facilitating the deposition of sperm for fertilization.

19
Q

What role does the foreskin play in the male reproductive system?

A

The foreskin protects the sensitive glans penis and helps maintain moisture and sensitivity, contributing to sexual pleasure.
