Define fertility
Fertility is the number of live children born to each woman in a population during her reproductive years.
Total fertility rate is the average number of children that each woman in a population will have if current birth rates remain the same.
Affected by fertility norms, female empowerment,access to reproductive health services and economy.
What is mortality
Mortality is an indication of the average number of deaths in a population.
Poor living conditions results in high infant mortality rate which is the average number of children below one which die in a year. Expressed as number out of 1000 live births.
Life expectancy which is the average number of years the average person can expect to live.
What is a population pyramid
It is a graph that is used to show the age and sex distribution of the population.
Greater fertility rates expressed as longer bars at the bottom of pyramid.
What is meant by age cohort
An age cohort is used to describe a group of people of more or less the same age.
Discuss unemployment
Unemployment is the lack of employment or having an occupation that offers remuneration.
Define migration
Is a permanent change of residence of a person.
Internal migration moving from one area to another within the county
International migration moving from one country to another county.
What is urbanisation
It is the moving of the population from rural areas to urban areas for better opportunities.
