Tint And Gel Polish Flashcards
List the steps for lash tinting:
- Cleanse: remove any make up/oil’s on lashes
- apply petroleum jelly to bottom of cotton round (half’s) while eyes are open
- close eyes and adjust
- jelly tops of eyelids
- mix dye (1/4 inch) and peroxide (3-10% 10 drops)
- apply to lashes while eyes are closed
- follow manufacturers instructions for processing times
- remove excess dye with a q-tip
- dampen q-tip, remove traces until all gone
- flush eyes with water
How long does tint last and why?
3-6 weeks typically
-Summer months: 3 weeks b/c of sun fading tint and chlorine
How long is tint left on brows:
a) fine hair
b) medium
c) course or grey hair
Eyelashes: 5-15 minutes
a) fine hair: 2-3 min
b) medium: 3-5 min
c) course/grey: 5-10 min
What are contra indications to tint?
- sunburn
- skin infections
- open sores
- psoriasis
- claustrophobic
- allergies to tint
- contact lenses at time of tint
- hay fever / runny eyes at time of tint
How is cuticle work done differently during a gel manicure?
- cuticle oil after polish
- nails not soaked
- any lotions, oils, etc. are applied after polish has been cured and wiped
no oils are left in the nail plate which would cause gel polish to lift
When is the hand massage done during the gel manicure?
Hand massage would be done after the application of polish.
We want a clean, dry, dehydrated nail surface.
What is used to remove the sticky layer after top coat is cured?
Alcohol
List the steps to remove gel polish:
- file/buff off top glossy layer
- soak cotton ball in acetone, place on nail
- wrap tinfoil around soaked cotton ball on each finger
- let sit for 5-10 min
- pull off one nail at a time than take off remaining with a nail scraper
