What three sections are resources divided into? What do these mean?

A

Non-renewable —> fixed amount that cannot be remade/renewed (finite) e.g. Coal
Renewable —> resources that don’t need to be physically managed and are infinite e.g. Sunlight
Sustainable —> resources that CAN be managed and can therefore be infinite as long as they’re managed correctly e.g. Wood

Define the term ‘resource’.

A

Natural ‘things’ that we use to live and work. Such as wood and herbs and animals etc..

What does the term ‘peak oil’ mean, and what does it man

A

Peak oil is when oil consumption is at its highest. This means that oil prices will rise as it will start to run out. Therefore forcing people to come up with alternate solutions.

There are 4 categories of resources, physical, energy, mineral and biological. Give two examples of each category.

A

Physical —> Tidal waves and Water mills
Energy —> Solar power and Wind power
Mineral —> Iron Ore, Oil
Biological —> Milk, Vegetable Oil

What does the ‘inequality in the supply of fossil fuels’ mean? And give one example.

A

That some countries have more, say, oil than others and some countries consume more than others. For example the UAE both have access to more oil and consume more oil than the UK so there is an inequality.
