What is unconscious bias?
It involves social stereotypes formed about certain groups that influence behavior in subtle ways. Often developed through influences and experiences, also known as implicit bias. Individual is often unaware of biases.
Why is it important to recognize implicit biases?
Biases affect decision-making processes and can affect how we behave around people. Awareness of personal biases is extremely important in community policing, and building a relationship with the community.
