(Difference between TIED/SLURRED notes, they look the same!)Two pitches connected by a curved line- these connected pitches are the same pitch/note! Played on the piano by combining the rhythm of two pitches- quarter note tied to a quarter note is played for same length as a half note!

A

Note/notes that occur before the first full measure. The last measure of the piece is shortened by that number of beat in the pick-up measure! EX-1 quarter note pick up, last measure will have one less quarter note.
