What is leisure time?
Times when you can choose what you do.
What is active leisure?
Taking part in activities that involve exertion of physical or mental energy. Can include low-impact or some high-impact physical activities.
What are examples of low impact and high impact leisure activities?
Low: yoga or walking.
High: aerobics or kick-boxing.
What is passive leisure?
Activities in which a person does not exert any significant physical or mental energy.
What are three examples of passive leisure?
Going to the cinema, watching tv or playing video games.
What do local authorities have a legal ty to provide?
Libraries
Swimming pools
Playing fields
Sports centres
What is a a private enterprise?
A privately owned business not regulated in the same way as a state owned organisation.
What is recreation?
Relaxing and enjoying yourself, but it is slowly being used to mean doing something that is active and healthy.
What reward is being participated for in recreation?
Intrinsic reward.
What is an intrinsic reward?
Something that gives a person an individual or internal satisfaction derived from doing something well.
What is an extrinsic reward?
Something that is done for a particular reward that is visible to others.
What are three examples of outdoor recreation associated with some challenge?
Climbing, fell walking or caving and canoeing.
How can you gain maximum benefit from the use of your leisure time?
Involve yourself I’m am activity that can be carried out throughout your lifetime.
What is an example of lifelong sports?
Swimming.
