Three groups of people face strict liability
- Owners of dangerous animals
- People who engage in highly dangerous activities
- Manufacturers and sellers of defective consumer products
Civil law
Tort law. Deals with disputes between individuals or groups
Deep pockets
Defendant who has enough money to pay for the damages
Immune from lawsuits
- Minor against parents
- Minor against brother/sister
- Spouses (in certain states)

Recover damages from a minor
You have to prove the child acted unreasonably for a person of that age and experience
Class action
A lawsuit brought by one or more persons on behalf of a larger group

Lawyer receives a portion of the recovery if the plaintiff wins

Type of coverage or insurance that pays for injuries to other people or damage to property if the individual insured is responsible for an accident
