Unit 6 Flashcards

1
Q

What is the difference between limiting reactant and excessive reactant

A

Limiting Reactant: the reactant that limits how much product is made because it will run out. this means when calculating it is the reactant that produces the lesser amount of product. That amount of product is the theoretical yield

Excessive Reactant: the one we have too much of and we will have left over. When calculating we ignore how much it could product

Is calculated amount you theotraticaly expect to produce in an experiment

Q

Actual Yield

A

Measured, usually with a scale. It is what you actually made in a experiment

Q

Percent Yield

A

is a ration of the actual yield and the theoretical yield. AKA it is the comparison of how much product you got in a experiment compared to how much you were expecting
