Unit2 - 2.1 Cells Flashcards
Function of the Cytoplasm
Most chemical processes take place here, controlled by enzymes
Function of the Cell membrane
Controls the movement of substances in and out of the cell
Function of the Mitochondria
Most energy is released by respiration here
Ribosomes
Protein synthesis happens here
Function of the cell wall
Strengthens the cell
Function of the chloroplasts
Contain chlorophyll, which absorbs light energy for photosynthesis
Function of the permanent vacuole
Filled with cell sap to help keep the cell turgid
What is Bacteria?
A single celled organisms which contains cytoplasm, cell membrane and a cell wall
Function of the Nucleus
Contains genetic material which controls the activities of the cell
What is yeast?
Yeast is a single-celled organism, similar to bacteria, containing; Cytoplasm, Cell membrane, Cell wall and a Nucleus
