Why our body needs Carbohydrates
help us to full up and give us energy. Too much sugar can make us overweight and damage our teeth
Why our body needs Fruit and vegetables
Vitamins are organic substances contained in foods. We need vitamins to live and grow. If we don’t eat vitamins we can become very ill.
Why our body needs Dairy
Protein helps our body grow and to fight illnesses. Calcium keep our bones strong.
Why our body needs Meat, fish…
Protein helps our body grow and to fight illnesses.
Vitamins help keep us healthy and stop becoming ill.
Why our body needs Fat
Fat give us energy
Saturated fats can be bad because they block arteries and cause heart disease and strokes.
Unsaturated fats are essential for a balanced diet and it’s important to eat small amounts.

When we are ill some part of our bodies doesn’t work properly.
Illnesses can be caused by:
- External sources:
- virus and bacteria
- Internal sources:
- Genetic disorders
- Unhealthy habits

- Food poisoning
Unhealthy habits
- Not to protect our skin. Too much sunshine can cause cancer.
- Junk food contains a lot of fat and sugar. Can cause heart disease and strokes.
- Alcohol and cigarettes are harmful. Smoking can cause diseases such us Lung cancer and emphysema. Alcohol can damage the liver, brain and heart. Both (alcohol and cigarettes) damage your inmune system.
How do we get sick?
A virus or bacteria can enter our body in different ways: Throiugh the air we breath, througt a cut on our body or through the food we eat.
Health at school
- Walking to school: Walk on the pavement and use pedestrian crossing to cross the road.
- Cycling to school: Wear a helmet, bright colors and reflective clothes.
- On the school bus: Wear seatbelt. Don’t make noise. Look before crossing the read when you get off the bus. Don’t run into the road.
- In the car. Seatbelt and don’t doing noise.
What to do if someone is hurt
First, let and adult know.

RICE technique
What is RICE technique?
- Rest: descansar
- Ice: Poner hielo 20 min cada hora.
- Compress: Envolver la torcedura con una venda no muy fuerte
- Elevate: Elevar un poco la pierna por encima del corazón para para que no se hinche.
Cut
- Clean the cut with water to remove any bacteria
- Use clean bandage, gauze to pressure on the cut and stop bleeding
- Elevate de cut above the level of the heart to stop bleeding.
