Q

What is the insertion of the pectoralis major

A

Proximal attachment of the clavicular head= anterior surface of the medial half of the clavicle. The sternocostal head= proximally to the anterior surface of the sternum

Q

What is the action of the pectoralis major

A

Adducts and medially rotated the humerus, draws the scapular anteroinferiorly, on its own the clavicular head flexes the humerus and the sternocostal head extends it

16
Q

What is the innervation of the teres minor

A

Axillary nerve

17
Q

What is the action of the teres minor

A

Laterally rotates the arm

18
Q

What is the origin of the subscapularis

A

Subscapular fossa on the costal surface of the scapula

19
Q

What is the insertion of the subscapularis

A

Lesser tubercle of the humerus

20
Q

What is the action of the subscapularis

A

Medially rotates the arm

21
Q

What is the origin of the deltoid

A

Scapula and clavicle

22
Q

What is the insertion of the deltoid

A

Deltoid tuberosity on the lateral surface of the humerus

23
Q

What is the innervation of the deltoid

A

Axillary nerve

24
Q

What is the action of the deltoid

A

Anterior fibers= flex the arm. Posterior fibers= extend the arm. Middle fibers= major abductors of the arm (takes over from the supraspinatous after 15 degrees)

25
Q

What is the origin of the trapezius

A

Skull, ligamentum nuchae and spinous processes of C7-T12

26
Q

What is the insertion of the trapezius

A

Clavicle, acromion and the scapula spine

27
Q

What is the innervation of the trapezius

A

Motor innervation from the accessory nerve. Proprioception fibres from C3 and C4 spinal nerves

28
Q

What is the action of the trapezius

A

Upper fibers= elevate the scapula and rotate it during abduction of the arm. Middle fibers= retract the scapula. Lower fibers= pull the scapula inferiorly
