urinary system: summary Flashcards
KIDNEYS
Regulate composition of blood, produce hormones (calcitriol, erythopoietin) & excrete wastes.
TISSUE LAYERS (kid)
Sup to dep: renal fascia, adipose capsule, renal cap.
URINE
Nephrons - papillary ducts - minor calyces - major calyces - renal pelvis.
VASCULATURE
Renal - segmental - interlobar - arcuate - cortical radiate - afferent arterioles - nephron - glomerulus - efferent arterioles - peritubular capillaries - cortical radiate v - arcuate v - interlobular v - renal v.
NEPHRON
Renap corpuscle and renal tubule (prox and distal convoluted tubule, nephron loop). DCT - collecting ducts - papillary ducts. Neph and collecting ducts perform glomerular filtration, tubular reapsorption & tubular secretion (to maintain homeostasis).
NEPHRON ACTION
Glomerular filtrate- renal autoregulation, neural regulation & hormonal regulation.
Tubular reabsorption- clean out
Tubular secretion
ANTIDIURETIC HORMONE
Increases water reabsorption.
