Vertebral Vasculature Flashcards
What supplies the anterior 2/3 of the spinal chord?
The anterior spinal artery
Where does the anterior spinal artery branch from?
it branches from the vertebral artery that goes through the transverse foramen.
What supplies the posterior 1/3 of the spinal cord?
The posterior spinal artery
What does the posterior spinal artery branch from?
The posterior spinal artery brnaches from the PICA
posterior inferior cerebellar artery
Explain the motor nerve tract
The motor nerve tract is ipsilateral
Also called the corticospinal tract
it dessucates (crosses) at the brain
Exaplain the sensory nerve tract.
It runs ipsilateral
Also called the DCML
(dorsal column medial leminiscus)
Dessucates at the brain
Explain the pain and temperature nerve tract.
It is contralateral
Also called the spinothalmic tract
It dessucates immediately
