Vertical Projectile Motion Flashcards
1
Q
Define free fall
A
Projectiles fall freely with gravitational acceleration ‘g’, where g = 9,8 m.s^-2 near the surface of the Earth. ( An object is in free fall if the only force acting on it is gravitational force.)
2
Q
Define gravitational acceleration
A
The acceleration an object will experience due to gravity. On Earth it has a constant value of 9,8m.s^-2 downwards.
3
Q
Define gravitational field
A
The force acting per unit mass.
4
Q
Define weight
A
The gravitational force the Earth exerts on any object on or near its surface.
5
Q
Define terminal velocity
A
The maximum velocity a falling body reaches when air resistance prevents it from accelerating further.
