Societal
- violence has to be tackled in society before it can be tackled in sport, sport is a reflection of society
- it costs the tax payer money to police
Sports
- it reduces the reputation of sport
- it gives a poor impression to young people, negative role modelling, puts parents off
Performers
- injury, impact on fitness and performance
- causes spectators to be violent
- it can damage their reputation eg Zidane head butt

Players 
- better qualified officials at all levels 
- change or adapt rules 
- stricter punishments 
- educate with emphasis on fair play 
Spectators 
- use cctv to find culprits
- stricter punishments eg stadium bans 
- control or ban alcohol 
- separate fans 
- increase police stewards
