Q

Also known as the patriotic war of 1812, in Russia. Napoleon was at the height of his power either directly or indirectly through treaties which gave him control of most of Western and Central Europe with the exception of Russia. June 24th, 1812 Napoleon and the French army marched toward Moscow. The Russians had half the army of the French but outwitted them strategically by retreating and destroying lodging and food resources as they went. Napoleon enters Moscow in October to find it burning. Napoleon was forced to head home with no way of re-supplying his army with food. By November the soldiers were eating the horses. By December they were defeated and only 300,000 men returned home
