what is mechanical impedance Flashcards
what is Mechanical impedance and mobility?
lllr to electrical analogy it refers to the resistance offered to motion.
Ratio of force applied to the velocity (f/v) both of which have real and imaginary part. or force per unit velocity.
mobility is inverse of impedance
Explain impedance vs freq graph for mass, spring, damper?
as freq increases the impedance of mass increases so it is linearly increasing. F=ma and a=jw *v
As f increases impedance of spring decreases so it is linearly decreasing. F=Kx and x=v/jw
for damper the impedance remains constant F =cv
Explain resonance and antiresoance in mass spring system?
when freq increases the impedance due to mass increases and impedance due to spring decreases at a particular freq they become min this point is min impedance which corresponds to resonance.
similarly if lowest point in mobility graph gives antiresonance frequency.
