What is the purpose of Advent?
Period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Christ.
When does advent begin?
Fourth Sunday before Christmas day.
Describe what happend before/after the birth of Jesus
Angel appeared to Mary telling her she would have a son
Angel appeared to Joseph telling him about Jesus and to marry Mary
There was a census so Mary & Joseph travelled to Bethlehem - where Joseph’s family was from.
There were no rooms so Jesus was born in a stable
Angels appeared to sheppards to tell them about Jesus and they went to see him.
Wise men followed the star to find Jesus bringing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh
God tells Joseph to go to Egypt as King Herod wants to kill Jesus

He wanted them to tell him where Jesus was.

They were warned in a dream not to go back.

Killed all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under
