What are six jobs that women had to do during the war
Teachers, munition factories, land army, textile workers, postal service and nurses
How did teachers help during the war
Because men were at war women needed to work as teachers they would work in elementary schools as well as boys grammar schools
How did working in munition factories help with the war effort
They would work with dangerous naturists making things like bombs and missiles for the soldiers on the front line
Nurses
Nurses were needed to treat injured soldiers at home in Britain as well as ont he front line
Land army
The woman’s land army would work on farms to fill the gaps left by the men that had gone to war they would provide food for the country
Textile workers
The soldiers and sailers needed uniforms quickly and the women were put to work in textile factories to make as many items as possible
Postal service
These women were in charge of making sure that the letters and postcards from soldiers made it back to their families
Transport conductors
The government realised that keeping the transport system fully operational was essential to the war effort women were brought in as conductors
