-Made from Deciduous/ Broad leafed trees (Broad leaves).
-Slow growth- harder and more expensive.
-Sold by cubic metre- sawn to customer needs.
-Can be machined into many sections- moulding (dowel, beading).

-Examples include- mahogany, walnut, oak, ash, beech

-Configerous trees- have needles instead of leaves- don’t lose their needles.
-Grow faster- cheaper and easier to work with (softer)
