n. the protection, backing or support of a particular person or organization
affable
adj. friendly, good natured or easy to talk to
ague
n. (archaic) malaria or other illness involving fever ans shivering
alacrity
n. brisk and cheerful readiness
assertive
having or showing a confident or forceful personality.
astute
adj. having an ability to accurately asess situations or people and turn this to one’s advantage.
benighted
adj. in a state of pitiful or contemptible intellectual or moral ignorance
berate
v. scold in a prolonged manner referring to a manner of behaviour or a way of life.
bleary
[adj] tired from lack of sleep.
blithe
adj. showing a casual and cheerful indifference considered to be callous or improper
bloviate
v. Talk at length, esp. in an inflated or empty way.
boffin
n. person engaged in scientific or technical research. A person with a skill considered to be complex arcane o difficult.
brazen
adj. bold and without shame
bumptious
n. self assertive or proud to an irritating degree. i.e. Hugo Chavez
bungle
v. carry out a task clumsily or incompetently. BACLER
busk
v. play music or otherwise perform for voluntary donations in the street or in subways.
cavalier
adj. showing lack of proper concern, offhand
chide
v. to express disapproval for specific failings (more formal than scold)
chtonic
concerning, belonging to, or inhabiting the underworld. (from greek khton, earth)
chuck
v. throw carelessly or casually. Chuck a brick. Chuck my career.
chuckle
v. laugh quietly or inwardly
chum
(informal dated): a close friend
