What is critical appraisal?

A

Critical appraisal is the process of carefully and systematically examining research to judge its quality as well as usefulness and is an important element of evidence-based medicine.

What is relative risk?

A

The ratio of the probability of an event occurring in the treatment group to the probability of the event occurring in the comparison, placebo group.

RR<1 = lower probability in treatment group e.g. RR of 0.5 indicates risk is halved
RR=1 same probability
RR>1 higher probability in placebo group
