It is the study of the distribution and the determinants of disease in a population; comes up with strategies to prevent illness and manage those who already suffer from illness
What is qualitative data?
Descriptive data, can be observed but not measured
What is quantitative data?
Numerical data, can’t be observed but can me measured
What does the numerator represent?
Whatever you’re measuring
What does the denominator represent?
The total population from which you are measuring
What is incidence rate?
The number of new cases in a population at a given time
How do you calculate incidence rate?
(The number of new cases in a period of time and population/ number of people in a population at risk for being a new case (in the same time period ) x 100
