Quotes
Explain

A

Doomed
‘ A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life ‘, this accentuates that the couple will tragically take their life, this also connotes that two people have tried to go against fate to be with each other, with disastrous consequences. Shakespeare foreshadows this to show that the couple are hopeless, which links back to my point of them being doomed.

Q

How does Shakespeare present Romeo and Juliet as a whole 2?
Quotes
Explain

A

Divine
On the balcony scene Romeo calls Juliet a “bright angel!” This heavenly metaphor suggests that he sees her as a pure and peaceful woman. Her purity would also have been significant as a woman’s virginity was very important. In addition to this, the use of “bright” indicates that she is illuminating him and perhaps to juxtapose the dark night.
