New record for high Rx. Please revise the basics of lens properties so that you can discuss all the best options for any given scenario. Don’t talk about ‘thinning’ be specific. Please find out about compensated powers for ‘elite’ multi focalises and how to check. Be able to explain what happens with your high power when you change the BVD. What are the options for very high powers such as aphakia?
12  cards
4.2.1 Advises on the use of and dispenses simple low vision aids including simple hand and stand magnifiers, typoscopes and handheld telescopes.
Difficulties with simple scenario for reading - suggests appropriate power of aid but not correct spectacles. Confused about acuity reserve, watch the College webinar on 28th and then I will ask more questions
35  cards
4.2.2 Understands the application of complex low vision aids
Confused about telescopes. Did suggest Max TV for the TV scenario, and moving closer. Further questions needed.

13  cards
5.3.2. Chooses, fits and manages the correction of presbyopic patients.
Very limited knowledge of lens design and the various potential impacts on patients. How to problem solve - eg your patient had reduced VA but you didn’t seem to know why, and you were every quick to say she must ‘compromise’. Do some research, and we will discuss.
30  cards
6.1.5. Recognises common ocular abnormalities and refers when appropriate.
Not quite complete. We need to have a satisfactory glaucoma episode.
43  cards
6.1.8. Evaluates glaucoma risk factors to detect glaucoma and refer accordingly.
Although the patient was a suitable referral, the case was not well presented with limited understanding of disc changes in glaucoma and of the associated field defects. Have a look at the GONE project. More revision and a new record please.

10  cards
8.1.2. Understands the management of a patient with an anomaly of binocular vision.
This is almost complete. I have reviewed the PR. Consider the meaning of ARC and suppression and when, as an optometrist, an understanding of the sensory status might be helpful - and how you would assess it. I will discuss this alongside 'adult with heterotropia' at V4.
20  cards
