A
  • Quickly kills and eliminates the pathogen that is introduces to the body
  • Elicits a primary immune response that results in production of memory cells

What is herd immunity?

A
  • If enough members of a community are vaccinated, they will produce lots of memory cells
  • If they contract the pathogen, they destroy it before numbers of pathogens in the body increase to levels that mean they may pass it on to others
