A
  • 4 Stroke engine
  • 2700RPM and 150HP @ Sea Level and Standard temp
  • 4 Cylinder, “Normally” Aspirated engine
  • 8 Spark Plugs (2 Spark Plugs per cylinder)
  • 2 Magnetos to provide redundancy and increased efficiency (fire)
  • Carburetor (air), Carb icing 20-70F, Drop in RPM is a indication of carburetor icing

A

Piston moves away from cylinder head and draws in fuel/air mixture through intake manifold and intake valve

Compression

A

Both valves close and piston head moves towards the top of the cylinder (top dead center) and compresses fuel/air mixture

Ignition

A

Top and Bottom spark plugs let off a spark and ignite the fuel/air mixture causing a controlled ignition, pushing the piston head towards the base of the cylinder which the crankshaft and therefore the propeller

Exhaust

A

The exhaust valve opens and the cylinder head moves back towards the top of the cylinder, pushing out the exhaust gases

A

Rotates in unison with the crankshaft (with gears) in order to open and close intake valves at the precise time needed. This process is repeated thousands of time a minute
