TYPES OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS = Transaction Processing System (TPS)
Automates data handling for business transactions.
Goal: Boost speed, productivity, efficiency, and accuracy in processing transactions.
TYPES OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS = Management Information System (MIS)
Uses raw data from TPS to create meaningful summaries reports.
Goal: Help managers make better decisions.
3 Types of Reports:
Periodic: Scheduled reports (e.g., daily, weekly).
Exception: Generated only when something unusual happens.
Ad hoc: Created as needed for specific situations.
TYPES OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS = Decision Support System
Combines databases, models, and user-friendly interfaces to let users analyze and manipulate data.
Includes: What-if analyses, executive dashboards, data warehouses, and knowledge management system.
Goal: Help solve unstructured or unpredictable problems by supporting decision-making.
