1 st topek Flashcards
(42 cards)
A unit of measurement of electrical current
Ampere
A unit of power which is equivalent to 1000w
kilowatt(w)
A wire or cord which provides for current flow
Conductor
The quality of electrical current in ohms that resist the flow of current
resistance
resistance is measured in
ohms
Material used to cover electrical wires which may be made from plastic, rubber or asbestos
insulator
Are implements used to modify raw materials for human use
tools
Accessories that are used to connect from boxes to conduits or raceways to the other boxes in the electrical system
Connectors and Adapters
Plastic conduits or raceways designed to be a channel of wire that are classified as rigid non metallic or PVC. The flexible non metallic or Cpc, and the surface plastic molding
Non-metallic conduits
Metal raceways or conduits
metallic conduits
The 4 types of metallic conduits are
Rigid Steel conduit, intermediate metallic conduit, electrical metallic conduit or tubing, and the flexible metallic conduit
The blade tip is wedge-shaped and resembles a negative(-) sign
Flathead screwdriver
This is a cross tip resembling a positive(+) sign. this is used to drive screws with cross slot head
Philips screwdriver
This could be the shape of a screw driver or wrench used to to drive screws with hexagonal slots head
Allen screwdriver
These are tools used in driving or pounding and pulling out nails.
Hammer
THE THREE TYPES OF HAMMER ARE
Claw Hammer, Mallet, Ballpeen Hammer
this type of pliers is used for cutting fine, medium and big wires and cables
cutting pliers or side cutting pliers
This type of pliers is used for gripping, holding, and cutting electrical wires and cables and even small nails. They are usually used by linemen in doing heavy tasks.
Combination pliers
The type of pliers used for cutting and holding fine wires. this can reach tight spaces or small opening where other pliers cannot reach.
Long Nose pliers
A tool used for removing insulation of medium sized wires ranging from gauge#10 to gauge #16
Wire Stripper
This is used by linemen to remove insulation of wire and cables in low and high voltage transmission lines
Electrician’s Knife
A small drilling machine
Portable electricl drill
This is used to cut metal conduits and armored cable
Hacksaw
A pocket size tool used to test the line wire or circuit if there is a current in it
test light
