Q
(Parallel Reactions) How to control the selectivity with CA?
A
-if α1 > α2: keep CA as high as possible (batch or tubular reactors over CSTR)…for gas - no inert + high P, for liq - minimize dilutents
-if α1 < α2: keep CA as low as possible (CSTR)…for gas - inert and high P, for liq - maximize dilutents

Q
(Parallel Reactions) How to control the selectivity with temperature?
A
-If E(D) > E(U) …operate @ highest possible temp (be mindful of safety and catalyst)
- If E(D) < E(U) …operate @ lowest possible temp (be mindful of rate since rxn may not proceed)
