What is SKA rating?
SKA rating is an environmental assessment method, benchmark and standard for non-domestic fit-outs, led and owned by RICS. SKA rating helps landlords and tenants assess fit-out projects against a set of sustainability good practice criteria.
How does a soak away work?
What is a soakaway? Soakaways are mainly created as a solution to standing surface water. They consist of a large hole or pit that receives surface water from a drainage pipe and helps the water to slowly percolate through the soil, reducing the risk of flooding and improving the stability of the ground.

Explain the purposes of FEES?

The Fabric Energy Efficiency Standard (FEES) is the proposed maximum space heating and cooling energy demand for zero carbon homes. This is the amount of energy which would normally be needed to maintain comfortable internal temperatures and in a dwelling this can be influenced by: Building fabric U-values.
What does Building Regulations part L cover?
Building Regulations Part L covers the conservation of fuel and power in the building of new homes in England, and establishes how energy-efficient new and existing homes should be. From 15 June 2022 an important update to the Building Regulations will take place which includes an uplift to Part L.
How would you define U-Value?
Thermal transmittance is the rate of transfer of heat through matter. The thermal transmittance of a material (such as insulation or concrete) or an assembly (such as a wall or window) is expressed as a U-value. The concept of thermal transmittance is closely related to that of thermal resistance. The thermal resistance of a structure is the reciprocal of its thermal transmittance.

How would you future proof a residential build
- I would create a lifetime/future proof home.
So effectively you don;t have rooms downstairs you have zones.
So you will have the zone of the kitchen, dining room and the living room.
You have the ability with wider doors areas that could be created to wet rooms.
designed for the occupiers whole life in the event of being infirm
The staircases will be wide enough for a stair lift. for the home owner if they no longer can get up the stairs.
This gives flexibility can’t get up the stairs anymore or for a young family
