What makes up mycelium and absorbs nutrients. Looks like thing strands of hair
What is the mycelium?
The body of the fungus
What is absorptive heterotrophy?
Fungus excretes digestive enzymes into the environment to break down large food molecules and then absorbs it
What is lichen?
A symbiotic/mutualistic combo of organisms made of a fungus, alga/Cyanobacteria, and yeast, the fungus protects the photosynthetic layer from drying out, the alga/Cyanobacteria provides food through photosynthesis, and the heat produces chemicals that’s wards off predators and repels microbes
What is mycorrhizae
A mutualistic relationship with plants. Grows on roots, the plants gives sugar to the fungus, and the fungus increases the surface area of the plants roots so it can get more water
